
Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) has begun the process to have their stadiums cleared by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
This comes after CAF released reports on Stadiums cleared to host FIFA and CAF-affiliated competitions.
FERWAFA Secretary General Henry Muhire, on Saturday, February 4, was accompanied by some of the federation's staff to inspect the Huye Stadium.

“Today (February 4, 2023) Secretary-General Henry Muhireh together with the staff of the competition department visited the Huye Stadium in order to improve the report accompanied by the video to be sent to CAF as required before granting the right to play the match on the fourth day of AFCON 2023 Qualifiers,” part of the statement read.
The federation highlighted the move was in accordance with the requirements of the 2022 guidelines for the certification of CAF competition venues.
Federations are required to send a preliminary report to CAF accompanied by a video that can be relied upon to grant the right to play a certain match, depending on the level of the competition.
Huye Stadium was awarded the right to host the CHAN 2022 qualifiers and African Cup of Nations Under 23 Qualifiers back In August 2022.
However, now FERWAFA is required to fulfil the provisions and regulations to get the right to compete.
According to the latest list provided by CAF, the only nation in East Africa with an approved stadium was Tanzania.
The Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium is the only CAF-approved stadium in East Africa.
