The Glazer family has come under immense pressure in the past few years to sell Manchester United and it seems the persistent criticism from the Red Devils' supporters is about to yield results.

A few months ago, the family confirmed that they are ready to sell the Premier League club.

This is great news in the ears of die-hard Manchester United fans. However, they would have to wait a little longer until a new owner acquires the club.

TeamKenya.co.ke takes a look at two billionaires who cloud purchase one of the most successful clubs in European football.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the man who sponsored Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge during the Ineos 159 Challenge, is one of the billionaires who would like to own Manchester United.

Ratcliffe is the richest man in Britain with an estimated £15 billion (approximately Ksh2 trillion) net worth.

The entrepreneur who was born in Manchester is also a supporter of the Red Devils.

On Friday, February 19, it was confirmed the 70-year-old made a bid for 69% of Manchester United.

If Ratcliffe manages to buy Manchester United, the Glazers would be gone completely.

It is widely reported that the owner of the Ligue 1 side Nice, seeks to develop Old Trafford once he buys the club.

Sheikh Jassim

Sheikh Jassim, the chairperson of Qatari Islamic Bank, is also among the leading contenders to buy Manchester United.

Similar to Ratcliffe, Sheikh Jassim is also a boyhood Red Devils supporter.

He has also tabled a substantial debt-free bid and is believed to be ready to do everything, including making a world-record bid to buy the club.

Sheikh Jassim, who became a United fan at the age of 10, would invest in the men’s and women’s squads if he manages to secure a deal with the Glazers.

Elliot Management

Aside from the two billionaires, Elliot Management, the company that previously owned AC Milan is also interested in Manchester United.

However, unlike Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim who are interested in purchasing the club, the American firm has made a proposal seeking to finance Man United.
