The AFC Leopards versus Gor Mahia rivalry popularly known as the Mashemeji Derby is among the oldest and most intense in Africa.
The two Kenya Premier League sides have battled it out for over 50 years, with Gor Mahia coming on top on numerous occasions.
Since the first meeting between the two clubs in 1968, memories both good and bad have been created.

The first player to score a hat-trick
Laban "Ndege" Otieno is the first and only player to have scored three goals in a game in the history of the derby. Otieno bagged the hattrick in February 1975 during Gor Mahia's 5-1 thrashing of AFC Leopards.
Otieno earned the nickname "Ndege" during that epic match which was made special by the presence of a white dove that landed in the middle of the pitch during the halftime break.
The dove which was associated with witchcraft by Ingwe fans, nearly caused the two sets of fans to exchange blows until it was seized by law enforcement officers.
Players who have scored for both clubs
Former AFC Leopards player Demonde Selenga and K'Ogalo's David "Deo" Odhiambo are the only players to have scored for both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.
Odhiambo scored a goal for AFC Leopards in their 2-1 victory over Gor Mahia in 1996. He had earlier netted a goal for Gor Mahia in the club's narrow 1-0 against Ingwe in 1992.
On the other hand, Selenga scored a goal to help Gor beat Ingwe 3-1 in 2011 and for Leopards in the 1-0 win against their rivals in 2010.
The First goalscorer
William "Chege" Ouma was the first player to find the back of the net in the Mashemeji Derby. He did so in 1968, helping Gor beat Ingwe 1-0 in a clash which was staged at the Nairobi City Stadium.
The only player to Score a brace twice
Former Gor Mahia forward Dan Sserunkuma is the only player who has scored more than two goals twice in the history of Mashemeji Derby.
The Uganda international achieved the incredible feat in 2012 and 2014.
Mashemeji Derby's top scorers
Sammy "Jogoo" Onyango and Dan Sserunkuma lead the top scorers' chart in the history of Mashemeji Derby. They each have six goals to their names.
