The National men and womens 7s Rugby teams have received an invite for the final Olympic qualifier in Los Angeles between June 25-27.

The event will act as the final build-up to the Summer Games to be held in Tokyo Japan in July.

With most Sevens events postponed because of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the invite will be a blessing for the Shujaa and Lionesses who have endured mixed up preparations in run to the Olympics countdown.

Already the Paris Sevens that was scheduled for May has been postponed because of the country’s restrictions in dealing with the Covid-19 spread. The event was to serve as the first round of the women's HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Both Shujaa and Lionesses are currently taking part in the Emirates invitational sevens tournament taking place in Dubai a month after taking part in the Madrid Sevens.

The World Sevens Rugby Series is expected to commence with the men’s event in Singapore on October 29-30th,followed by joint men’s and women’s rounds in Hong Kong (November 5-7, Dubai (December 3-4) before visiting Cape Town on December 10-12.

World Rugby has said  detailed discussions are in progress with London and Vancouver on the viability of hosting men’s events in the window following the Olympic Games.
