
The Kenya National Women Football team Harambee Starlets will play Zambia’s Copper Bullets in an international friendly match at the end of this month.
According to a media release circulated on Wednesday by the Football Association of Zambia they will first play South Africa on 10th of April before welcoming David Ouma’s Starlets later on in the month.
“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has secured two international friendly matches for the Copper Queens as part of intensified preparations for the Tokyo 2020 (to be played in 2021) Olympic Games.
Harambee Starlets were knocked out of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifying tournament by Zambia after losing 3-2 on aggregate. The two teams drew 2-2 in Nairobi before going down 1-0 at the Nkoloma stadium.
Zambia then went ahead to beat Chile 2-1 in the inter-confederation playoffs first leg in Santiago. The second scheduled match couldn't take place after some players tested positive for Covid-19.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa has confirmed they have already initiated urgent talks with the Ministry of Sports to allow the national teams prepare for all major upcoming assignments.
