AFC Leopards can now breath a new lease of life after reaching an agreement to settle dues owed  to former coach Andre Casa Mbungo.

After a successful fundraiser held on September 30, 2021, the club decided to settle with the Rwandese national who now coaches Bandari FC and the meeting held on Friday afternoon cleared the dust.

During the fundraiser, the club managed to collect a total of Ksh 8, 068,000 and part of the cash was used to settle Casa Mbungo’s outstanding arrears. According to sources, Mbungo agreed to settle for slightly less than what he had been demanding from the club (Ksh 7 million).

The failure to pay Mbungo together with departed players Vincent Habamahoro, Tresor Ndikumana and Soter Kayumba resulted to them receiving a two-window transfer ban in March but now the club is ready to flex its muscles again in the transfer market from next week.

“We are hoping that things work out as we want so that we can begin bringing in fresh blood next week,” assistant coach Tom Juma told TeamKenya on Thursday.

A number of players are expected to sign the 13-time Kenyan champions as they seek to bury the ghost of massive departures that threatened to disorient them at the beginning of the season.

A slim 1-0 win over defending league champions Tusker FC was quite unexpected but that alone confirmed that they were in for some serious business this term.

A number of high profile players have already been linked with moves to the Den in the next few days. Kenya internationals Musa Mohamed, Duncan Otieno, Clifton Miheso and JohnMark Makwatta are some of the big names linked with moves to Ingwe. Former Ulinzi winger Cliff Kasuti is also on Ingwe’s radar as well as former player Kepha Aswani.
