Record Premier League champions Gor Mahia have been handed a fresh two-window ban by Fifa for failing to comply with an initial transfer ban.
Gor who are currently leading the charts in the FKF Premier League has been banned by FIFA from any transfer activity with FKF also being fined Ksh 6 million for allowing the new signings play against Tusker in the Super Cup.
In a letter from FIFA to Gor Mahia, the world football governing body found the club culpable of failing to comply with an initial transfer ban.
“The Green Army" fielded a new signing in a match against Tusker and KCB despite still serving a transfer ban.
“The club Gor Mahia is found guilty of failing to comply with a FIFA decision."
"The club Gor Mahia is banned from registering new players for two entire and consecutive registration periods as from the date of notification of the present decision" the letter read.
This means that the earliest Gor Mahia will be able to sign players will be in January 2023.
“The ban from registering new players applies both nationally and internationally and shall cover all men eleven-a-side teams of the Respondent (Gor Mahia) – first team and youth categories. The Respondent shall be able to register new players, either nationally or internationally, only as of the first registration period following the full serving of the ban,” part of the letter read.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) have also been slapped with a fine of about ksh6 million for registering the players and allowing them to play. The players are Sando Yangaya, Dennis Ng'ang'a, and Peter Lwassa.
FKF will be required to pay the fine within 30 days.
Earlier on Gor had been barred from acquiring new players after they failed to pay their former defender Shafiq Batambuze.
Gor currently sits top of the league standings after five matches, and has progressed to the Caf Confederation Cup play-offs
