Chelsea Hope to Maintain top Spot as They Welcome Manchester United

Chelsea who are the current league leaders will be welcoming Manchester United at The Stamford Bridge as they seek to extend their lead in the Premier League table.

Cheslea have injury scares as Ben Chilwell, suffered a suspected knee ligament damage against Juventus and is likely to miss several games. N’Golo Kante hobbled off in the first half of that clash too with a suspected  knee injury and is battling to be available.

Romelu Lukaku was on the bench against Juventus and should be an option off the bench this Sunday, but Kai Havertz is struggling with a hamstring injury and Mateo Kovacic remains out with a thigh injury.

Manchester United will be without their Captain Harry Maguire due to the one-match domestic suspension he incurred when receiving a second yellow card during last weekend's defeat at Watford.

Carrick is  expected to manage United Chelsea as they are reported to be closing in on a deal with Ralf Rangnick to become the Interim manager until the end of the season.

Arsenal v Newcastle

Eddie Howe has his work cut out for him to get Newcastle out of the relegation zone before the January transfer window.

As for Arsenal they have been on an unbeaten run until last weekend where they suffered a 4-0 loss against Liverpoll.

Arsenal are hoping for a bounce back as the team has no new injuries with Xhaka regaining his fitness after a long spell injury.

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa

Aston Villa will be looking to make it back-to-back Premier League wins under new head coach Steven Gerrard when they travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Gerrard led his side to a 2-0 home victory over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, while Palace will enter the contest off the back of a pulsating 3-3 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor.

Palace will again be without the services of James McArthur due to a hamstring problem, while Nathan Ferguson is also unlikely to be involved as he recovers from a calf injury.

As for Villa, Bertrand Traore and Trezeguet remain out with thigh and knee injuries respectively, while Douglas Luiz is expected to miss out once again with a hamstring strain.

Liverpool vs Southampton

Liverpool will be welcoming Southampton to Anfield as they hope to get three points to close down the gap as they occupy third spot in the table, one point adrift of second-placed Manchester City.

Liverpool are yet to suffer defeat  at home this season, this mean Southampton will have to do the extraordinary in order to get three points.

Liverpool are hoping for an early Naby Keita, with Roberto Firmino, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Joe Gomez out with injuries.

As for Southampton Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Djenepo are still doubtful through injury and personal problems respectively. Jack Stephens will spend several more weeks on the sidelines as he battles back from a knee injury, and Redmond is expected to return.

Norwich City vs Wolves

Dean Smith will be managing Norwich for the second game since taking charge from last weekend.

Norwich upset Southampton last week while Wolves got a big win over West Ham. Go with Wolves, especially since they’re at better than even odds.

Norwich will again be without the services of Christoph Zimmermann through injury, while Ozan Kabak and Sam Byram are unlikely to be involved for the Canaries.

As for Wolves, Pedro Neto, Hugo Bueno, Jonny Castro and Yerson Mosquera remain unavailable for selection, while Willy Boly has also been ruled out with a muscular problem.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Leeds

Both Brighton & Hove Albion and Leeds United will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they lock horns in East Sussex on Saturday afternoon.

Brighton are currently ninth in the table, having picked up 17 points from their opening 12 matches, while Leeds sit 17th, collecting only 11 points from their first 12 games of the 2021-22 campaign.

The Seagulls remain without the services of Steven Alzate and Danny Welbeck, but they are otherwise in good shape, meaning that Potter has a number of decisions to make.

Luke Ayling is not yet ready to return, but Bielsa said during his press conference on Thursday that the defender is in line to feature for the club's Under-23s on Monday.
