The arrival of Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon has sparked a debate online.

The Atlas Lions arrived early in Cameroon, but what stood out was that the team arrived along with tonnes of food, cooks, mattresses, beds and hotel staff to work in their temporary abode in Yaoundé.

The 86-man delegation including 28 players, technical and administrative staff landed in Yaoundé on January 2, joining early birds Ethiopia, Sudan and Zimbabwe, who jetted in the country earlier for camps ahead of the tournament that is scheduled to begin on January 9.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has ensured rooms and other compartments at the team's hotel in Yaoundé are sterilised, while beddings and blankets have been replaced by those transported from the Kingdom as a way to avoid contraction of coronavirus.

Local hotel staff with direct contact to players have been replaced by those also ferried from Morocco, while security agents have also been brought in.

Travelling with home foods by teams to a competition is not something new as many countries do that during tournaments and even during qualifiers.

Cameroon during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa travelled with foodstuff from home and its own chefs.

The act by the Morocco delegation to hire an entire hotel to use their own hotel staff and restrict access can be seen as a health precaution method.

The Morocco travelling delegation, which includes Soufiane Rahimi, the most valuable player in the 2020 Africa Nations Championship, moved to the Mont Febe Hotel where they will lodge during the rest of their camping and the main tournament and have had at least two training sessions in Yaounde.

They will face four-time champions Ghana, Gabon and debutants Comoros in Group C at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.
