Former Kenya international and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Mugubi Wanyama has joined the Wild Aid Africa Movement as a wildlife ambassador.

It is now official that former Harambee Stars captain Victor Mugubi Wanyama is now the new brand ambassador of wildlife Africa.

WildAid Africa is a movement that campaigns for protection of wildlife and illegal trafficking of the game occupants.

The Montreal Impact FC vice-captain announced his signing as a wildlife ambassador via his social media account on January 7, 2022.

“I am excited to announce that I have signed up to be a wildlife ambassador with WildAid Africa. I truly believe that wildlife is more valuable and alive, so I'm joining WildAid to speak out against illegal wildlife trafficking,” Wanyama's post read.

Wanyama joins the likes of Marathon Olympic Champion Eliud Kipchoge, football legend David Beckham and javelin thrower Julius Yego among other athletes.

The defensive midfielder earlier in 2021 was unveiled as the UN-Habitat Goodwill Ambassador in Nairobi.

Wanyama has previously served as Safaricom Limited’s brand ambassador in 2017 and DSTV 2018 FIFA World Cup’s ambassador.

Wanyama is also the patron of the Victor Wanyama Foundation that seeks to advance life skills and promote the understanding of the positive role of sports throughout society, and around the world.

Wanyama, who is currently based in Canada, announced his retirement from the international scene in September 2021.

The prolific midfielder played for Harambee Stars for 15 years having made his debut in 2007 against Nigeria at the tender age of 15 years making himself the youngest ever player to feature for Harambee stars.
