Horrible scenes were witnessed in La Liga after a player got hit with a spear-like object.
The Real Betis derby match against Sevilla was subsequently abandoned after Joan Jordan was struck by the object thrown from the stands.
Jordan received medical treatment on the pitch before being escorted to the sidelines where he was joined by his team-mates.
The Betis players remained on the pitch while the RFEF - Spain's FA - decided whether or not to continue the Copa del Rey Round of 16 tie. And after 50 minutes the match was called off.
A statement from the organisation read: "The Copa del Rey round of 16 match between Real Betis and Sevilla FC is suspended. The RFEF condemns any act of violence on the playing fields."
Referee Ricardo de Burgos Burgos wrote in his report that the object was a "hollow 50-centimeter (20-inch) PVC bar'' thrown from a section containing Betis supporters.
Jordan did manage to get back to his feet but did not feel fit enough to continue.
Betis star Victor Camarasa revealed on Twitter after the match that Jordan was encouraged to show signs of dizziness by his coaches.
Camarasa wrote on Twitter: "Embarrassing and unjustifiable the action of someone who does not represent our fans. I hope that Joan Jordan is fine, although we have all heard (including the 4th referee) how their coach encouraged Jordan to 'get dizzy and throw himself on the ground."
"With this tweet I'm not saying that Joan is faking or simulating, I'm just telling what has been heard in the field."
An Alejandro Gomez goal gave Sevilla the lead just four minutes before Fekir's equaliser - the Frenchman's goal proved to be the last bit of action in the match.
