On Sunday, February 13, Gor Mahia’s FKF Premier League match against Vihiga Bullets failed to proceed after fans caused chaos.
The fracas provoked Bullets to decline coming back onto the pitch for the start of the second half, prompting the match officials to call it off.
This is not the first time such cases have been reported.
In February 2021, Gor Mahia came up against Zambian club, NAPSA Stars, in the CAF Confederation Cup. The high stakes match, which was to determine who goes through to the group stages of the competition, did not go in favour of K’Oallo, who were done by a last-minute penalty.
In protest, Gor Mahia players accosted the referee after the match. The referee was accorded heavy security to get him outside the stadium.
CAF imposed a four-match ban on two Gor players, Kenneth Muguna and Boniface Oluoch. The duo was as well fined Ksh1.6 million each.

Yet another match that turned chaotic was one against KCB, which ended 1-0 in the Bankers’ favour at the Machakos Stadium in January 2019.
Gor Mahia fans went on rampage, throwing projectiles on the field of play while also causing damage to Machakos County Government’s ambulance.
Football Kenya Federation’s Disciplinary Committee imposed a Ksh606,000 fine on K’Ogallo. Ksh300,000 was payable to the Kenyan Premier League management, Ksh200,000 to KCB for damages caused to its bus and Ksh106,000 to Machakos County.
The fine wasn’t the first to be imposed on Gor Mahia in favour of Machakos County.

In 2014, Sofapaka, under the tutelage of Coach David Ouma, beat Gor Mahia 3 - 2 in a league match. Angry Gor fans went on the rampage in Machakos town, destroying property and disrupting business.
Governor Alfred Mutua imposed a Ksh1 Million fine on Gor, as well as a ban on the use of the county facilities.
Yet another instance was in 2015 when Gor fans engaged Nairobi City County Officers in running battles in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
It started when a County Official's car knocked down one Gor fan, who was part of others coming from a match against Ushuru FC at the City Stadium.
In retaliation, two vehicles were burnt down while three fans were injured and had to be rushed to hospital.
Meanwhile, after yesterday’s incident, the FKF Caretaker Committee is set to give directions on the match, including possible sanctions.
