Nigerian entrepreneur Nneka Ede in June 2020 became the first African woman to purchase and own a European club.

Since their relegation back in1950 the club has found it difficult to get back into the main league.

“After months of negotiations with different entities, an agreement has been reached with Mrs Nneka Ede, a sports enthusiast and entrepreneur from Nigeria, a country filled with people as passionate and fiery about football as us and which incidentally share the same green and white in their flags, towards the transfer of the ownership of the SAD to the latter that will help us in our mission to take Lusitano to the next level,” the statement read.

In the current 2021/2022 season the team is at fifth position in Group A after 20 matches where they have recorded 10 wins, three draws and seven loses.

The club's home ground is at Estádio do Lusitânia in Lourosa which can host a total capacity of 11,000 people.

The Portuguese based club is being managed by 44 year old Head Coach Hélder Fernando Natividade Pereira.
