Kenyans Who Won Over Ksh200 Million in Bets & How They Used the Cash

In the sports world many fans place bets in hopes of winning with some going for the bigger stakes. Different outcomes happen as some win and others lose, the gaming world is highly dependent on one's luck.

For those who have won huge amounts of money they find themselves at the crossroads on what to do with the money. Many spend the money wisely and others squander. TeamKenya takes you through some of the winners who won huge amounts of money and how they spent their cash.

Samuel Abisai 

In 2017, Samuel Abisai was the talk of town as he was announced to have won Ksh221 million jackpot after correctly predicting the outcome of 17 football matches. 

Three years later, Abisai came out and revealed how he used the funds from the gambling fortune.

Abisai revealed that it took him close to a whole year to reflect and plan on how he would spend the money.

The Ksh221 million jackpot winner noted that first treated himself by taking a personal holiday in the Netherlands.

After the holiday he started a number of businesses where he partnered with his long term friends.

"There is a boy called Malik who is in Rongai and currently has a garage. It is not that I gave him money, we partnered and started a business from scratch. I have other friends I have helped. 

"I have also employed some in my company. I got some people from Kakamega who work in Nairobi," he stated. 

 
Gordon Ogada 

Gordon Ogada in 2018 joined the list of Kenya’s multi-millionaires after winning a Ksh230,742,881 from a betting jackpot.

Gordon won the bet after correctly predicting the results of 17 matches. 

Ogada, who later became famous in various social media platforms revealed that after the announcement everyone wanted to be associated with him.

He noted that five months after winning the cash, Gordon claimed that he had gone broke. Ogada stated that he bought a few cars with the money and bought a house in Nairobi among other investments which cost a lot.

“It has  been five months since I won the money. I put almost all the money into long-term investments. I do not have money just floating like many people want to believe. I am broke most of the time,” he noted previously.

He also noted that he felt embarrassed with how he used the money as he would no longer be able to help his friends and family financially.

Cosmas Korir

In October of 2018, Cosmas Korir was the winner of Ksh208 Million Mega Jackpot.

Koroir in a past interview revealed that he bought a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 for Ksh 12 million.

The jackpot winner noted that he shared Ksh5 million among his two friends whom he used to stake together with.

Korir added that he used Ksh2 million to complete his rural house in Bomet after it had stalled due to lack of funds.He also cleared a loan of ksh3.5 million that he had taken to construct his house.

Additionally the jackpot winner bought a flat in Eldoret where his family lives. He also put Ksh130 million in a fixed deposit account after being advised by friends.

Korir also noted that after six month thereabout he decided to venture into the real estate industry as he bought two flats in Kitengela.
 
The first flat cost him ksh50 million with the second one costing him ksh65 million.

He also bought several parcels of land in Eldoret as he is currently building a mansion for his family as he prepares to run for an elective post in the 2022 elections.
