
Injuries are the worst nightmares to footballers.
However, some of the injuries are inflicted outside the pitch or on the pitch in ways that are somewhat bizarre.
TeamKenya takes you through a list of some of the footballers who suffered bizarre injuries during their careers.
Liam Lawrence
In September 2008, Stoke City player, Liam Lawrence, a day to a Premier League clash against Portsmouth, the Republic of Ireland international was announced to have an injury.
It was reported that Lawrence tripped over his dog and he fell off the stairs damaging his ankle.
"He has stepped over his dog on the stairs and his ankle just gave way and he went over on it. The initial scan has shown no break but we have sent him back for another x-ray to make sure.
"We don't know how serious it is at the moment, he may be okay for Portsmouth, but then again he may not be fit. We will have to wait and see," the then Stoke manager, Tony Pulis revealed.
Darren Barnard
In 1999 Barnsley midfielder Darren Barnard suffered a serious injury that put him on the sidelines for five months.
The Ex-Chelsea player, unfortunately tore his knee ligaments after slipping on his dog’s urine in the kitchen.
Sergio Canizares
Spanish goalkeeper Sergia Canizares is also another player to suffer an awkward injury.
Canizares was forced to miss the 2022 World Cup after accidentally smashing a bottle of aftershave in the sink, with the broken pieces of glass spreading n the floor and piercing him.
The piece of glass that fell on his foot forced him into surgery after he hurt a tendon in his toe.
Dave Beasant
Before the commencing of the 1993/1994 season, legendary goalkeeper Dave Beasant dropped a bottle of salad cream on his foot.
Beasant tried to save the jar from dropping with his foot where he ended up damaging the tendon on his big toe.
The injury lasted for eight weeks. Beasant at that time was Chelseas goalkeeper with the unfortunate injury bringing an end to his career at the Blues.

Adrian
In August 2019 Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian suffered an injury as a fan invaded the pitch during the Reds' UEFA Super Cup celebrations after defeating Chelsea on penalty shootouts.
One of the Liverpool fans ran toward the Spanish goalkeeper knocking him over before he was chased out by the security team.
Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp announced later that the player would be unavailable as his ankle was swollen.
Darius Vassell
Darius Vassell suffered a self-inflicted injury as the then Aston Villa man attempted to treat a minor injury.
The former England international player revealed that he used a drill specially made to treat nail infections.
"I attempted some DIY. It wasn't with a Black and Decker drill as has been described on the internet.
"When you've got blood under the nail, you need to get into that to relieve the pressure. Unfortunately, with me, anything that was touching that nail was excruciating so I attempted to do it myself at home, but I couldn't do it because just touching the nail was painful," Vasell revealed in the past.
Alfie Mawson
In January 2019 the then Fulham defender Alfie Mawson suffered a knee for just putting on his boots.
This was announced by his then manager Claudio Ranieri who noted that it was a very strange injury where the player received an injury for changing his boots.
"It was a very strange injury. He just changed his boots. It was unbelievable. He needs more time. How long? I don't know,” Ranieri noted.
