
The motorcycle competition known as the Motocross has gathered fame gradually across Kenya.
In Kenya, the sport has experienced significant growth since it was revived in the 1990s with over 100 licensed motorcyclists participating in motocross championships.
The sport that is known for high speed and high risk stunts is also said to be a sport for the rich as the requirements to join and buy the gears comes with a lot of expenses.

Some of the best motocross participants include Gideon Moi's nephew Alex Moi, Ethan Nyachae, Rolf Kihara, Gisa Benzinge, Natalie Kandie, Tanav Choda, Rendy Magara, Nathaniel Livondo, Wahome Mutahi and Atete Benzinge.
Kenya and Uganda have over the years been in competition which is highly attributed to the growth of the sport in the neighbouring country.
The Kenyan riders have held their position in the senior category with superior skills and speed owing to their frequent exposure to the Africa Championship in Morocco, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa.
To be a member of the East African Motor Sports Club the annual under-16 joining fee is Ksh8,000, while the senior membership fee is Ksh12,000.
To get a junior licence, one pays Ksh12,000 and Ksh16,000 for seniors.
In order to purchase a helmet, one has to have a budget ranging between Ksh20,000 and Ksh60,000. A chest guard costs Ksh15,000 with the gloves together with the goggles costing Ksh3,500.
For a full suit comprising a pair of shorts and a shirt, one has to pay Ksh30,000 and Ksh35,000 for the protective boots.
