British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe has given a clear response after reports linked him to the purchase of Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.
Ratcliffe’s spokesperson on Thursday, February 3, noted that the reports claiming that the billionaire had put a bid for Chelsea had no substance.
The 69-year-old British billionaire owns the French football club, Nice, and has in the past expressed his reluctance to purchase a premier league club.
He is also the chairman of the chemical company INEOS, which are the sponsors to marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge.
Abramovich announced that he was looking to sell the Blues after 19-years of ownership, with many people interested in purchasing the London based club.
Reports further claimed that the Russian billionaire had offered at least four parties the opportunity to purchase Chelsea.

"There was some early exchange but we were a significant way apart on valuations. The issue with Chelsea is its stadium. We are all getting older and it is a decade of your life to resolve that," Ratcliffe stated previously.
Before Abramovich announced he would be selling the club he had proposed to transfer the stewardship of the club to trustees of the Chelsea Foundation.
Roman Abramovich revealed that he would not ask for any loans to be repaid as he sells the club with the proceeds from the sales to be donated to victims of the war in Ukraine.
