Angella Okutoyi, who was marking her first clay-court tournament in Morocco, bowed out of the competition after losing in the second round.

The 18-year-old was knocked out by Kazakhstani Sandugash Kenzhebayeva.

This was, however, the third time the 18-year-old has failed to advance past the round since her Australian Open brilliance.

Okutoyi had passed round one of the clay-court tournaments after her opponent Kenzy Ramy retired from the match with Okutoyi leading by a set (6-1).

The young tennis sensation was using the Morocco tourney as a warm-up for the upcoming Roland Garros Grand Slam.

She qualified for the ongoing J1 Mediterranee Avenir tournament through direct acceptance.

Okutoyi made history in Australia after she became the first Kenyan girl to record a Junior Grand Slam match-win.

The rising tennis star in one of her previous interviews noted that she was aiming to make it in the top 30 rankings.

“Now that the Australian open fete is behind me, I am now focusing on the next assignment which I hope will be the French Open because my 2022 goal was to play in all the major Grand Slams, get to at least the quarters and get to top 30 in the rankings and I still want that,” she stated.
