
Ukraine will resume their bid to qualify for the World Cup with a match against Scotland for the first-round playoff.
Their earlier match between the two that was to be played in Glasgow was postponed back in March due to the country being invaded by Russia.
UEFA on Thursday, April 14, announced that they had finally sorted out the issue regarding the match between Ukraine and Scotland which will go on June 5.

“Following extensive discussions with the eight national associations concerned (Armenia, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Ukraine and Wales) and FIFA, leading to unanimous agreement.
“In a remarkable spirit of solidarity and cooperation, UEFA today confirmed the dates for the remaining matches of the European Qualifiers to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off path involving the team of Ukraine, as well as adaptations to the calendar of some UEFA Nations League matches required to accommodate the postponed play-off matches.
“The European Qualifiers play-off between Scotland and Ukraine will be played on 1 June and the winner will face Wales on 5 June in the play-off final,” the statement by UEFA read.
The playoff winner will go into a group at the World Cup in November with England, the United States and Iran.
Ukraine will prepare for their match through scheduled friendlies against France and North Macedonia.
A majority of the Ukraine National team squad plays in the local league for Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk, however, due to the league coming to pause the clubs have been engaging in friendly matches in Europe.
According to the First Vice President of the Ukrainian FA Oleg Protasov, Ukraine are ramping up preparations for their semi-final match.
“Now we are looking for good training camps and sparring partners. We really believe that we should not just play, but win the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, and we need to prepare well.
He added that as a federation they are in talks with other countries to host them in the training camps.
“Now we are in the process of negotiations with some countries for training camps and holding matches with France and North Macedonia, but we will tell you about this a little later,” he added.
