South African Football Association (SAFA) have reported Tanzanian football club Simba to the CAF disciplinary committee for practising a ritual during their past match.
Simba during their match against South African side Orlando Pirates burned incense on the field, which slightly damaged the pitch.
According to SAFA chief executive officer Tebogo Motlanthe, the association will follow up on the complaint to the latter.
Motlanthe spoke to Sowetan Live.

“We have written a formal complaint to CAF and we will be following up,” Motlanthe stated.
“The complaint was that the action we viewed as against the culture. South Africa has diverse cultural beliefs and what they did, doing that in public, went against some of the cultures, which is unacceptable in this country.
“As far as we respect the cultures of people, that can’t be done. Even in our local league, we don’t allow those things.
“And it has the potential of damaging the field and we believe it was not in any way sports-related,” he added.
The incident happened during the pre-match warm-up. Orlando Pirates went on to win the match with a 1-0 score which brought the aggregate score to 1-1.
Pirates progressed to the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals via penalty shootouts winning 4-3 over the Tanzanian club.
