The Manchester Police department has issued a statement on the progress of Manchester United forward, Mason Greenwood's assault case.

In a statement dated Friday, June 24, the police stated that the winger will remain out on bail until it is determined whether he will be charged with rape and assault or released.

They stated that Greenhood was on bail as he could not interfere with ongoing police investigations.

The police department urged the public to remain calm stating that their next statement regarding the matter will either be the decision to pursue the case further or drop the matter.

“Following a hearing yesterday (Thursday, June 23 ), a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill on January 2022.

“As the outcome of bail reviews does not impact the progression of investigations, Greater Manchester Police will not be providing any further updates in relation to this case until the suspect is charged or released facing no further action,” read the statement in part.

On the other hand, the Red Devils maintained that the 20-year-old will not be part of the squad until the matter is resolved.

United stated that they do not condone any form of violence perpetrated by their players and staff.

“Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind. As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with or play for the club until further notice," Manchester United stated.

Greenwood has been out of the United team after he was accused of attempted rape and assault by his girlfriend on social media.

The accusations have seen the talented player lose lucrative deals. In February, sports merchandise Nike announced that they had dropped the player from their sponsorship.
