
Three current and former world record-holders will battle it out at the 2022 TSC London Marathon scheduled for October 2.
Brigid Kosgei, who is the current women’s full marathon world record holder will be seeking to reclaim her title which she lost in 2021 to compatriot Joyciline Jepkosgei.
Kosgei broke the world record at the 2019 Bank of America Chicago marathon. She produced an outstanding performance to cross the finishing line in 2:14:04 - shattering one of the oldest world records in athletic history.

Ethiopia’s Yalemzerf Yehualaw has also been confirmed for the prestigious event. The 22-year-old currently holds the women’s 10-kilometre road race world record.
Yehualaw boasts of a personal best of 2:17:23 which she set during her full marathon debut at the Haspa Hamburg Marathon a few months ago in Germany.
Former 10km and 20km world record holder Joyciline Jepkosgei will also be in the mix. The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) runner has won three high-profile marathons in the past two years. She won both the New York City full and half marathons in 2019 before scooping the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon.

TSC London Marathon director Hugh Brasher recently revealed that they moved this year’s edition to October to enhance its competitiveness.
“The London Marathon is an extraordinary and unique celebration of the family of humankind coming together. We believe that by moving the 2022 event to October, we give ourselves the best chance of welcoming the world to the streets of London.
“Enabling tens of millions to be raised for good causes and giving people the certainty that their hard work and training will allow them to experience the amazing crowds cheering them every step of the way from Greenwich to Westminster.
"For 39 years, the London Marathon has been a spring event and we will return to our traditional slot in 2023. The TCS London Marathon takes place on Sunday, April 23," stated Brasher.
Other elite athletes who will grace the marathon include Kenya’s Mary Ngugi, 2019 Berlin Marathon winner Ashete Bekere Dido, Degitu Azimeraw and Ababel Yeshaneh.
