Two-time Olympic champion Caster Semenya was included in South African team for the World Championship in Eugene, Oregon.

The Oregon World Championship is scheduled to start on Friday, July 15 and end on Sunday, July 24.

Semenya famous for the 800m race, was included in the entry list of the 5000m races.

Her inclusion came a few days after she had been excluded.

Her inclusion, however, was effected after some higher-ranked runners opted out of the 5,000m race.

The last global tournament Semenya participated in was the 2017 World Championships, where she won a third world title in the 800m and took bronze in the 1500m.

The South African switched from the 800m to 5000m race after being banned due to guidelines affecting women with conditions causing naturally high testosterone.

Semenya is suffering from intersex condition 46, XY difference in sex development.

In order for her to participate in the short distance, she would have to undergo medical intervention to lower her natural hormone levels to below a certain threshold.

The 31-year-old, together with other athletes with similar conditions declined to undergo the procedure, forcing them to compete in other unregulated events.
