Kenyan Premier League (KPL) record champions, Gor Mahia FC, have had many brilliant foreign players, but none has ever matched what Jacques Tuyisenge of Rwanda did for the club.
The 30-year-old who joined the club in 2015 from Rwandan side Police FC never disappeared in matches when Gor Mahia needed him. He was always there to net goals, especially when it mattered the most.
His first Gor Mahia goal was a beauty. It came against reigning KPL champions, Tusker FC, 21 minutes into his debut.

During the four seasons that Tuyisenge spent at Gor Mahia, he netted an impressive 64 goals at both domestic and continental assignments. The powerful forward did not only score goals with his foot, but also had excellent aerial abilities.
Tuyisenge was instrumental in Gor Mahia’s KPL success, helping the club lift three league titles in the four seasons he spent at Gor Mahia. He also did a fantastic job in continental competitions scoring critical goals. Gor Mahia legend, Peter Dawo, is the only player who has scored more continental goals than Tuyisenge.
Before Tuyisenge left the Kenyan Premier League, he made sure Gor Mahia fans will remember him for years to come, netting tens of goals every season. No other foreign player has ever scored more than 60 goals for Gor Mahia.

In a recent interview, Tuyisenge confessed that he misses Gor Mahia fans.
“Gor Mahia made me the player that I am today. The (Confederation Cup) game against Zamalek was my best ever match in a Gor shirt. I look at the highlights even today and feel proud of myself. My performances in these matches and the hype from Kenyan media really helped Petro to know me and follow my performances. I miss the Kenyan fans,” Tuyisenge was quoted by Nation Sports.
Tuyisenge left Gor Mahia in 2019 for Angolan side Petro de Luanda. Gor pocketed Ksh15 million from his sale.
