Yanga FC Official Fined Ksh1 Million For Insulting Colleague During Match

Yanga spokesperson Haji Manara has been banned for 2 years from all football-related activities in and outside Tanzania.  

Kichere Mwita, the chair of the TFF ethics committee announced on Thursday, July 21.

Manara was accused of insulting The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President Wallace Karia during a confrontation between the two.

“The committee with no doubt has found Haji Manara guilty of the accusations before him. Manara has been banned from any football activities in Tanzania and also outside for a period of two years. 

“Manara has been given a fine of Ksh1 million (Tsh20 million), and will be implemented with immediate effect,” the statement read.

The disciplinary committee had a meeting on July 11, where they discussed the complaint made by the TFF secretariat. 

Manara was accused of threatening and insulting (TFF) President Wallace Karia during the final of the Federation Cup between Yanga and Coastal Union.  

The committee noted that Manara had accepted the charges against him and asked for forgiveness from the TFF President, the media and other football stakeholders.  

Manara accepted his actions were not dignified and had tainted the image of Tanzania's football.
