Former AFC Leopards chairman Alex Ole Magelo has succumbed to Covid-19 complications.

The former Nairobi County assembly speaker has been in intensive care unit (ICU) for the past two weeks.

In the midst of constant wrangles, the tough speaking Magelo steadied the AFC Leopards ship after constant wrangles almost led the 13-time champions into relegation.

With the likes of Ssemi Aina and Matthews Opwora fighting for power, Magelo stood firm to ensure that Ingwe became a force to reckon with in the Kenya Premier League.

He would then step down from his position to concentrate on Nairobi County politics in which he served as the  speaker in March 2013.

He is best remembered for hiring Dutchman Jan Koops as the head coach and he helped the team finish second in the league in the 2012 season with their 23 match unbeaten run broken by would be then champions Tusker FC.
