3,000m steeplechase legend Ezekiel Kemboi endorsed Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga at a political rally held at Huruma grounds in Eldoret on Sunday, July 31. 

The four-time world champion urged Uasin Gishu County residents to come out in large numbers on August 9 and elect the former Prime Minister.

“Good evening, I’m here as the last born to Baba. My name is Ezekiel Kemboi Amolo. When you see me standing here, the needs of the youth will be catered for.

“You won’t be making phone calls. I will be at home and I will welcome all of you. I want to request all of you to vote for Baba” stated Kemboi.

Speaking during the campaign rally, Odinga promised to revolutionize the agriculture sector and build more industries if he became the fifth president of Kenya.

“We will build industries in this country, so that all our youth get jobs, and revolutionize agriculture so that famine becomes a thing of the past,”

“We will also protect every Kenyan. No one will be intimidated by anyone. You will have freedom because you are  Kenyans,” Odinga told a cheerful crowd.

Uasin Gishu is the home County of Odinga’s main rival. United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential candidate William Ruto comes from Kamagut village, 15km from Eldoret town. 

Kemboi was unmatchable during his athletics career, winning numerous medals for Kenya at various international competitions. He is among very few Kenyan runners who have won more than three World Championships gold medals.

The Kapsowar Secondary School alumni boasts of a 3,000m steeplechase Olympic medal and 4 World Championships gold medals. He won three of the World Championship medals in consecutive fashion. 

Apart from winning medals, Kemboi was also a great comedian. He entertained millions of fans from different corners of the world with his unique dance moves.
