West Brom Albion were on Sunday, May 9, relegated from the top flight English Premier league after a 3-1 thrashing by Arsenal on their trip to North london.

The Sam Allardyce coached side  needed to avoid defeat in their remaining fixtures to keep their premier league campaign next season alive. Their fate was sealed with goals from Arsenal trio Emile Smith Rowe, Nicolas Pepe and Willian.

Against the North london side in the midst of a club crisis of confidence following their painful Europa League defeat, West Brom certainly put in the effort. Luck was not on their side their entire season as they recorded a poor performance with 19 losses and 5 wins.

The visitors conceded twice in the first half, but powered through to the final whistle, with Pereira pulling them back into the contest in the second half slightly after the hour mark but Willian sealed their championship spot next season after scoring in the 90th minute.

The Baggies relegation from the premier league marked Sam Allardyce's first time being relegated from the English premier league in his entire managerial career.

Allardyce replaced Slaven Bilic in December while West Brom was sitting 19th in the league standings. The 66 year old tactician was unable to change the club's fortunes and they joined Sheffield United who were relegated from the premier league a couple of weeks ago.

West Brom's relegation from the top tier league has left question marks on the coach’s stay at the club as the manager in the incoming season while playing in the Championship division
