Paul Pogba suffered an injury to the meniscus of his right knee in July 2022, resulting in him missing the preseason tour with Juventus.

The Juventus midfielder has spent almost two months trying to rehab and avoid surgery, opting for a conservative approach.

However, according to renowned football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Pogba and Juventus decided he needs to undergo surgery.

“Bad news for Paul Pogba. He will undergo surgery on the meniscus in his right knee - Juventus staff has decided together with Paul today,” Romano wrote on his official Twitter account.

Juventus on September 5, through their official website, also confirmed that the 29-year-old had undergone surgery.

“This evening, Paul Pogba underwent selective external arthroscopic meniscectomy. The surgery, performed by Prof. Roberto Rossi in the presence of the Juventus Team Doctor, Luca Stefanini was a complete success,” the statement read.

Pogba had trained on the pitch on September 3 and September 4, before deciding to go for the surgery.

With the surgery Pogba is expected to be out for about six to eight weeks, meaning that he will not be back in time for the 2022 World Cup.

Pogba is yet to make his official comeback with Juventus after joining them during the 2022 August transfer window.

The midfielder may also miss the rest of the year with Juventus, considering that the Serie A will be on until the first week of November before players break for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
