Malkia Strikers tactician, Paul Bitok, issued an emotional statement after star player Sharon Chepchumba signed a lucrative deal with Greek-based side Aris Thessaloniki.
Chumba, who started her career as a football goalkeeper, signed a six months deal with the A2 League side.
Bitok stated that it has not been an easy journey for the Kwanthanze Secondary School alumnus since their first meeting four years ago.

“After being with you since 2018, I would like to congratulate you on signing with Aris Thessaloniki club of Greece. The process has been tough since you started playing volleyball with your high school coach.
“I am proud of you and I believe it is just the start of your career. You have shown you can take Kenya to the next level. I hope you will inspire the young generation to join you in the near future.
“We have more invitations of Malkia Strikers players and I encourage them to take it because it is the only way we can change Kenya's volleyball in future,” part of the statement read.
Bitok, who played professional volleyball in Croatia, also thanked Sharon’s former side Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) for releasing her.
“We also thank club KCB for releasing Chumba to enable her to realize her dream as a professional player. All the best Chumba,” ended his statement.
Chepchumba, one of the best opposite attackers in the continent, was not among the Malkia Strikers squad that jetted back to the country over the weekend after being knocked out of the 2022 FIVB World Championships.
The former Kenya Pipeline and Prisons helped KCB to bag the African Volleyball Club Championship title earlier this year - the first Kenyan side to do so since 2013.
