Erik ten Hag claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo refused to come on as a late substitute against Tottenham.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the United head coach further confirmed that he dropped Ronaldo from the Manchester United squad set to face Chelsea on Saturday, October 22.
Ten Hag noted that he acted after Ronaldo repeated the mistake twice, having done the same during their Europa League match against Rayo Vallecano.

"I am the manager, I'm responsible for the top sport culture here, and I have to set standards and values and control them. We are a team.
"After Rayo Vallecano, I said it's unacceptable but, he wasn't the only one. That is for everyone, when it's the second time, it will have consequence. That is now what we did. We'll miss him tomorrow, it's a miss for the squad, but I think it's important for the attitude, the mentality of the group," ten Hag noted.
The Dutch manager noted that the break will also help Ronaldo reflect on his current situation at the club.
Ten Hag noted that according to his philosophy, football is a team sport, and players have to fulfil the standards he has set for them.
Despite Man United's important win over Tottenham, Ronaldo still grabbed the headlines after he exited the pitch before the final whistle.
According to Ten Hag, his focus is currently on Chelsea, adding that the team is fully focused on taking three points at Stamford Bridge.
