Barcelona Legend Gerard Pique Retires at 35 Yrs

Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique announced his impending retirement from football on Thursday, November 3. 

The 35-year-old defender decided to leave Barcelona with a year and a half left on his contract. 

Pique will play his last match as a Barcelona player against Almeria on Saturday, November 5, at Camp Nou.

He will also travel with the team for their mid-week fixture against Osasuna next week on Tuesday, November 8. 

"Football has given me everything. Barcelona has given me everything. You Culers have given me everything. 

"And now that this kid's dreams have come true, I want to tell you that I've decided that now is the time to bring this journey to its end,” Pique stated in his farewell message. 

This season, Pique has only started in five games and substituted in a number of matches.

The former Spanish defender joined Barcelona at the age of 10 years but made his professional debut for Manchester United in 2004.

At Manchester, he won one Premier League trophy and one Champions League title. 

He returned to Camp Nou in 2008 where he won three Champions League titles, eight La Liga titles and seven Copas del Reys. 

In his international career Pique has won 102 caps and helped his nation win the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
