English Premier League side Wolves announced Spanish manager Julen Lopetegui as the club’s new head coach.

The 56-year-old manager will lead Wolves in his first Premier League match on Monday, November 14.

Lopetegui was relieved of his duties by Sevilla in October 2022 following a dismal start to the season.

“Wolves are delighted to confirm the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as the club’s new head coach,’ part of the club statement read.

The Spaniard has a vast experience in coaching, having managed FC Porto, the Spanish national team, Real Madrid and Sevilla.

Wolves chairman Jeff Shi praised Lopetegui, revealing that the club has been talking with the Spaniard for a long time as he was the number one choice.

“Julen is a top coach, with excellent experience at an elite level of the game, and we are very pleased to have agreed on a deal to bring him to Wolves,” Jeff Shi stated.

Lopetegui and his team are waiting for work permits to hit the ground at Molineux.

The Premier League fixture will be the last match before the World Cup break, which will help Lopetegui settle before the league resumes.

Wolves have begun the season on the low, having won only two matches out of 13 matches played and will be counting on the Spaniard to turn things around.
