The Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, prohibited the Kenya Football Federation (FKF) from starting the national leagues.

FKF was ordered to wait for the case filed by Kona Rangers and Administration Police Service (APS) Bomet to be heard and determined.

"This Honourable Tribunal declares the resolutions made by Football Kenya Federation National Executive Committee on 9 November 2022 as null and void.

"This Honourable Tribunal does hereby grant a temporary injunction staying the decision by the Football Kenya Federation National Executive Committee on promotions and relegations, pending the full hearing and determination of the petition.

“This Honourable Tribunal orders the 34 Respondent not to commence the 2022/2023 football season on 19 November 2022 and 26 November 2022 without including the Petitioners and Interested Parties in their respective promoted leagues,” part of the statement from SDT read.

The FKF secretariat declared the season null and void a few days ago, stating that clubs will not be promoted or relegated.

APS Bomet and Kona Rangers bagged the National Super League (NSL) and the Division One titles, respectively, during the controversial 2021/2022 season.

The local leagues were slated to kick off on Saturday, November 19, 2022, with the fixtures already released.

Ababu Namwamba, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Kibera Soccer Women, Mayenje Patriots and Dimba Patriots were named as interested parties in the case.

The national football governing body is yet to respond to the decision made by the SDT.
