
Angella Okutoyi overcame Uzbekistan international Sevil Yuldasheva in straight sets on Thursday, November 17, 2022 to advance to the quarterfinals of W15 tennis tournament.
The talented teen started the first set on a high beating Yuldasheva 6-4 in the wet Nairobi conditions.
In the second set, the 2018 Kenya Open champion took from where she left, overpowering her opponent by similar scores.

Organizers of the event were forced to revise the order of play due to the rain that was experienced in Nairobi.
Okutoyi qualified for the second round after comfortably beating Sharanya Shetty of India 6-0,6-0 on Wednesday evening.
Her twin sister, Roselida Asumwa, who was given a wild card, also advanced to the second round on Tuesday, November 15.
Okutoyi, the 2022 Wimbledon champion is competing in a tournament in Kenya for the first time this year.
She had a busy calendar this season, featuring in high profile tournaments including the US Open, French Open and Australian Open.
Her impressive displays on the court caught the eyes of many individuals, to an extent that she was offered an education scholarship by Auburn University - a United States higher learning institution.
In the quarterfinals, she will meet either Nigeria’s Divine Dasam Nweke and Slovakia’s Emma Tothova.
The winner of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament will pocket $15000 (approximately Ksh1.8 million).
