Details of Ababu Namwamba’s Visit to Dubai

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba travelled to Dubai in mid-November 2022, where he attended the DP World Tour Championship. 

The Sports CS met PGA European Tour CEO Keith Pelly, where they discussed establishing a sports academy in Kenya. 

Namwamba described the country's growth of sports and artistic talent as ‘all-encompassing’.

"Met at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai Keith Pelley, CEO of the PGA European Tour to discuss establishing a High-Performance Center at Kenya Academy of Sports," he stated.  

Ababu also received a donation of 30,000 golf balls from the DP World Tour. 

Kenya is one of the beneficiaries of the ⁦DP World Tour golf balls collection meant to help grow global golf.  

Namwamba received the donation in the company of accompanied by 10-year-old Kenyan golfer Kanana Muthoni. 

Kanana Muthomi is a junior golfer, having started playing the sport at five years and is undefeated in her age group (9-10 years).

Her prowess in the sport led to her being named an honorary member at the Windsor Golf Club, where she continues to nurture talent.
