Gor Mahia's surge towards the summit of the FKF Premier League continued on Thursday afternoon when they fend off stiff challenge from Sofapaka to win 2-1 away in Wundanyi.
South Sudan international Tito Okelo produced one of his finest performances for the reigning champions with a goal and an assist to give Vaz Pinto and his team maximum points and a second win on the trot.
Okelo rose highest to nod home past Togolese keeper Abdoul Aigba to make it 1-0 after 28 minutes. The speedy forward timed his run well to meet a Kenneth Muguna cross, guiding it past the Togo number one.
Earlier on, Clifton Miheso had been denied by Aigba after being put through by Muguna.
K’Ogalo took the lead into the interval but the homeside recollected themselves and upped their tempo in the second half with former Gor Mahia man Lawrence Juma tormenting his former employers. Sofapaka’s resilience finally paid off when left back Titus Echesa equalised in the 53rd minute to set up a grand finale.
Okelo who was undoubtedly the man of the match initiated Gor’s winner, this time round finding Alpha Onyango with a beautiful cross that the latter cooly finished to seal the three points.
