He pounced on Wanyonyi, showering him with punches, from left, right and center until the latter’s camp called it a day.
The fight was expected to last for 10 rounds but Wanyonyi did not have the bravery and determination to continue.
Apart from winning the fight, Mandonga got a lot of followers thanks to being a media darling.
His duel with Wanyonyi was not even supposed to be the main fight of the day. He was set to curtain raise the Ally Ndaro versus Rayton Okwiri bout, but the organisers were forced to make changes at the eleventh hour.
Mandonga revealed during the post-fight press conference that he would return to Kenya for another fight in a few months' time.
“I appreciate the Kenyan fans for their support. They cheered for me during the last round. I also want to thank the Tanzanian president Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan.
“The Republic of Tanzania has been helpful. I will be back in Kenya again in April to demolish another opponent,” he ended.
While launching the event, Jalang'o disclosed that boxing fans should have a reason to smile because more is yet to come courtesy of BetNare.
“We will be doing this every single month. This is the first event. We will do twelve events this year. Let’s bring back the boxing glory,” stated the former radio presenter.
In other bouts, Okwiri defeated Ndaro while David Omollo was beaten by Jean Collin from Mauritius.
Collin’s compatriot Kennedy Pierre took only 52 seconds to technically knock out Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) representative Yanik Katuta.
In the women’s category, BetNare sponsored pugilist Parsedes Anyango walloped June Kavulani.
Lydia Njeri, the betting firm's public relations officer promised to support grassroots sportsmanship in the country and also nurture talents.
"BetNare is new in Kenya but we are promising to do our best in changing the game of sportsmanship in Kenya.
"We are looking forward to partnering and sponsoring more and more events like this," she stated.
