Shujaa began its Sydney Sevens campaign on a low after losing 31-5 to South Africa on Friday morning, January 25.
In what was Shajaa’s opening Pool C match at the Allianz Arena, Kevin Wekesa made Kenya's sole try.
Willy Ambaka, who announced his retirement will happen after Sydney 7s, was a starter in the match.

Shujaa’s next match will be against the Series leaders New Zealand at 2:06 am on Saturday, January 28.
The Kenyan men's rugby sevens team will close off their Pool C action against Uruguay at 7:27 am on the same day.
Kenya will have to win its remaining pool matches in order to advance to the Cup or get dropped to the Challenge Trophy.
Shujaa would be seeking to better their results in Sydney after finishing 10th at the Hamilton 7s held over the weekend.
The team amassed a total of seven points, the highest ever registered this season.
Kenya is ranked 13th in the 2023 Series standings with 16 points, the same as 12th places Spain.
According to the new rules, the number of teams for the 2024 Series will reduce from 16 to 12.
The 15th-ranked following the tenth round in Toulouse will be relegated with Shujaa only 11 points away from relegation.
