“Nairobi City Stars has officially filed an official complaint with Football Kenya Federation (FKF), and FIFA’s integrity office, with three key prayers: nullification of the Sunday match against Bandari, a replay ordered, the expulsion of all involved in manipulating the match.
“We await their response on the same in the soonest time possible,’ part of the statement read.
In the clubs' statement, it was highlighted that there were several incidents like prolongation and awarding of a penalty towards the end of the match that informed its decision.
City Stars complained that it was suspicious that the match came to an end after the penalty was awarded.
After the game, the club's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patrick Korir alleged that matches in the FKF PL are being fixed.
Currently, there is no established law in Kenya that criminalize match-fixing making it hard to prosecute a suspect in criminal courts.
However, Sports Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke recently announced that the ministry had established plans to introduce criminal penalties, particularly jail term, for the offence.
