Langata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwour alias Jalango revealed the details of his conversation with Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namawamba on having a new football league.

He noted that the EPL Arsenal was the only team that does not represent a city, town, or county.

Jalango proposed that Kenya adopts a league whereby each county fields a team explaining that such a move will spearhead the growth of football.

“What if we took back the league to the counties? The counties to battle in a 20-team league! We have 47 counties, so we play a knock-out so that the top 20 becomes the first division, the second 20, second and the last seven become division three!” Jalangos comment read.

Jalango noted that with such a format clubs will have a fanbase from their home towns thus filling the stadiums.

In his post, the Member of Parliament noted that the Gor Mahia, AFC Leopard match is the only game in the FKF PL that attracts crowds.

He went on to argue that the only way governors will invest in sports and its facilities is when each county has its team.

“It is only this way will we see a boy from Marsabit travel to Migori to showcase their talent! It is only this way that will see a scout travel to Mandera to oversee a talented boy or girl!

“Let us have the counties league than lie to ourselves that talent will be scouted when Police Fc plays Kakamega Homeboys!” Jalango sattement ended.
