Aditi Ashok Bags Ksh 6M as 2023 Magical Kenya Ladies Open Ends

Indian international Aditi Ashok won the 2023 Magical Kenya Ladies Open golf tournament on Sunday, February 5. 

The 24-year-old overcame stiff competition during the star-studded event to bag the coveted award at the magnificent Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi County. 

Ashok, who came close to winning the title in 2019, bagged a whopping €45,000 (approximately Ksh6 million) after her triumph.

The Ladies European Tour congratulated her for the brilliant display throughout the four-day tournament. 

“What a sensational performance from the Indian star throughout the week in Vipingo Ridge, as she wins by nine shots to claim a fourth LET win!

"Congratulations Aditi, unbelievable from start to finish,” read a statement from the organisers. 

English golfer Alice Hewson and April Angurasaranee from Thailand finished second and third respectively.

Since they finished the tournament with an identical score, each of them pocketed €22,500 (approximately Ksh3 million).

The Magical Kenya Ladies Open title was Ashok's fourth victory on the Ladies European Tour. 

Some of the other titles that Ashok has previously won include the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open (2017), Hero Women's Indian Open (2016), and Qatar Ladies Open (2016).

Ashok also participated in major international competitions since turning professional in 2016. 

She was part of the Indian team that graced the hugely successful Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games seven years ago.

At the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Ashok narrowly miss out on a podium-place finish after finishing fourth.

Kenya’s first lady Rachel Ruto and Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba were among some of the dignitaries, who attended the final day of the contest.
