Golfer Naomi Wafula Makes History in Vipingo's Kenya Ladies Opens

Amateur golfer Naomi Wafula made history at the 2023 Magical Kenya Ladies Open in Vipingo after qualifying for the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Wafula secured a space after returning a score of 3-over par, 76, in Round Two of the 2023 Magical Kenya Ladies Open.

She was among the 63 players who made the cut after round two.

Leading the scoreboard after round two was Indian Olympian Aditi Ashok, who encouraged Wafula to continue playing with the same spirit and fashion.

Naomi Wafula has been training with The Professional Golfers Association (PGA)  Academy at VipingoRidge since failing to qualify in 2022.

Wafula is participating in the tournament for a third time now, having attended the 2019 and 2022 editions.

In an interview with Nation Sport, the Kenyan golfer noted that she had been working on her mental game.

The Magical Kenya Ladies' Open Tournament kicked off on February 2, at Vipingo Ridge Golf Course, Kilifi County.

96 players from 32 countries participate in the tournament, which also serves as a tourism platform to market Kenya to the world.

In a statement from the Ministry of Sports during the tournament's opening day, it was noted that the top 20 golfers will receive prize money awards.
