The tournament organised by Special Olympics Kenya saw a medical camp take place where children with eye, ear, limb, lip, and mobility challenges underwent checkups and received medical assistance.

This followed after the Chair of Special Olympics Kenya, Thuo Chege, requested Dorcas Rigathi to become the Patron of the Special Olympics in Kenya.

It was also disclosed that Pastor Dorcas pledged to support the sports body in helping fulfil the vision of the Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President (OSDP).

A special football tournament scheduled for 20 minutes was scheduled with Pastor Dorcas watching the PWDs taking part in the game.

"I am grateful to have watched the matches that have gone on. I could see those children's joy, the talent hidden in them.

“As a government, it is for us to make sure that the talent is exposed to the world and that the children in the wards and counties are brought to the fore so they can exploit the potential within them, and we can love on them."

Dorcas Rigathi explained that her reason for attending the special games was to champion the cause of the PWDs.

She added that the government wants to give the opportunity to travel abroad and showcase their talents and abilities.

“We want our children and their talent to be unearthed, and their potential to be put on a platform where anyone in the world can be able to see them and experience them," Pastor Dorcas added.

She called upon all Kenyans to support PWDs adding that nobody is exempted from disability.

Present at the event was the International President of Special Olympics, Brian Sheehan, who encouraged the growth of sports for people with disabilities.

"We see the raw emotion and passion from the champions, and kindness. We encourage such partnerships with the United Nations and Special Olympics to present this platform," Sheehan stated.

Sheehan commended the wife to the Deputy President for creating a national platform for PWDs, promising support from his body in pushing the agenda of empowering them.
