
Ferdinand Omanyala, the African 100m record holder, produced a scintillating performance at an indoor meeting held in Mondeville, France.
The 27-year-old lowered the 60m national record from 6:57 seconds to 6.55 seconds. The previous record was also set in the European nation in 2022.
Ivorian international Arthur Cisse and British runner Charles Dobson finished second and third respectively. Cisse crossed the finishing line at 6:59s while Dobson timed 6.61s.

Reacting after achieving the remarkable milestone, Omanyala simply described the performance as a great one.
“A great result tonight. National record” commented the University of Nairobi alumni.
In the women’s category, Swiss sprinter Mujinga Kambundji won the race in 7.06s.
Elsewhere, Commonwealth 800m champion Mary Moraa popularly known as Kisii Express registered a fourth-place finish at the Orlen Copernicus Cup staged in Torun, Poland.
Moraa, who bagged a bronze medal at the 2022 World Athletics Championships staged in Oregon, United States crossed the finishing line in 2:01.61.
In the 60m category, English international Keely Hodgkinson won the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold label race in 1:57.87. She did so in a world-leading time.
Homegirl Ewa Swoboda settled for a second-place finish ahead of United States representative Kayla White. They clocked 7.11s and 7.13s respectively.
