“This is the first athletics event we are taking part in this year and are excited to return home with such a good performance. Our athletes are one of the most tested athletes in the world. As such, I urge our athletes to continue running clean and to say no to doping,” Tuwei stated.

Team Kenya Cross Country captain Kibiwott Kandie assured the government that athletes will work against doping.

“We are grateful for the government support through the Ministry of Sports. Let’s keep the fire burning. Kenya is now known through sports.

“We will continue to run clean and we will not allow any form of cheating,” Kibiwott stated.

The Sports Ministry hosted the Team Kenya World Cross Country Championships Bathurst 2023 participants for a breakfast meeting to celebrate their triumphant performance.

At Bathurst 23, Team Kenya won a total of six gold medals.

Team Manager Patrick Mwiti who also spoke at the event, dedicated the good performance to the people of Kenya, adding that their prayers and support gave the team the required boost to be victorious.
