Mombasa County governor, Abdulswamad Nassir, has sponsored another iconic project that would see lucky Kenyas study in Barcelona and the United States.

The international scouting event targets budding footballers and local coaches and is scheduled at the Ronald Ngala grounds between Thursday, March 9 and Saturday, March 11, 2023.

“Mombasa County, in partnership with the Elite Soccer Outreach, Global Education and Sports Partners (GESP) and Nastic Soccer Academy, presents an international scouting event.

“It would see individuals play and study in Barcelona, Spain and the United States,” a statement from the county read.

According to a poster released by the coastal county, Noah Giovanelli from the GESP would be among the popular scouts expected to grace the three-day event.

David Kenga from the United States-based Elite Soccer Outreach and the Nastic Soccer Academy duo of Mia Guasch and Carlos Guillen will also attend.

Nastic Soccer Academy is one of the best academies in Spain. It is located in the city of Barcelona.

This comes barely a week after the county formed its first-ever football club - Mombasa United FC.

24 players were picked from all the constituencies in the county after a rigorous selection process.

According to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) representative Suleiman Shahbal, a women’s club is expected to be formed in the near future.
