England manager Gareth Southgate revealed that Manchester United Captain Harry Maguire could feature for England in their opening Euro 2020 clash against 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia on Sunday, June 13.
The 28-year-old central defender has not played since injuring ankle ligaments in Manchester United's Premier League defeat by Aston Villa on May 9.
However, Maguire resumed training with England this week as he sought to earn a spot in the England lineup against Croatia.
Maguire was a key anchor of the English side but his place in the England backline has been in jeopardy since sustaining ankle ligament damage.
Despite Maguire injury update relief England are still skeptical over his Man United teammate goal keeper Dean Henderson who suffered a fitness setback.
However, Henderson was the only absentee from the squad, putting a dent in his hopes to displace Jordan Pickford as number one in Gareth Southgate's plans.
Against Croatia all eyes would be on the Man United Skipper if he makes the starting lineup as his comeback to the squad is a relief but still poses question marks on his match fitness ahead of the main event.
