
Group F or what many may term as, the tournament's 'Group of Death' had its final matches being played on Wednesday night with Portugal & France certainly stealing the show. The Game, which took place at the Ferenc Puskas Arena went down with a 2-2 draw, Ronaldo yet again in the Scoresheet.
France on the other hand managed to top the group with 5 points in the table after Benzema's brace from the penalty spot and right after the halftime break at the 47th minute.
Portugal ultimately drew first blood after being awarded a controversial penalty at the 30 minute mark. Apparently, Les bleus Skipper, Hugo Lloris was deemed to have fouled Portugal's Danilo Pereira when a free kick saw the ball lobbed into the French box. Ronaldo was sure enough to have it in the net from the penalty spot.
Portugal was yet again awarded a second penalty later on in the 60th minute after an alleged hand-ball by Joules Kounde. VAR then deemed it a fair and correct decision after a not so long debate.
Ronaldo once again had the ball past Hugo Lloris making him achieve yet another feat as having equalled the men's all-time international goalscoring record! (109 goals) A record currently shared with Iran's Ali Daei. Ronaldo will definitely be looking to also bag the tournament's Golden Boot since he is currently the tournament's top scorer with 5 goals already. The living Legend now has 48 goals in the past 45 games played for Portugal.
The French on the other hand had much possession (53%) during the entire game with impressive performances from the likes of Paul Pogba.
The French talisman provided an incredible assist that saw Karim Benzema break a 6-year goal drought with France to quickly score right after the halftime mark. Pogba was also close to sealing the deal after his perfectly placed long shot after a dribble past Joao Palhinha hit the woodwork.
Portugal face another bigger test when they now meet up against world number one side Belgium in the next round. Les Bleus on the other hand will go head to head with Switzerland in Bucharest on Monday 24th June.
