Having helped Gor Mahia (K'Ogalo) lift the 2021 FKF Betway Cup title for the first time in nine years through his outstanding performance, Gad Mathews has truly won the hearts of many football fans. The shot-stopper saved two penalties as Gor Mahia edged out AFC Leopards (Ingwe) 4-1 on penalties. The Kisumu born keeper kept 7 clean sheets so far after his full return to the starting line up and is absolutely proving to be an unstoppable force. Despite having lost the Golden Glove award to ingwe's John Onyemba, Gad is still firm on sustaining his impressive form on a consistent basis.
Surprisingly, the Kisumu Day School alumni wasn't blessed with a tall frame at all since he stands at 5 foot 10 inches. However his agile reflexes surely bring to life his amazing and unorthodox goalkeeping abilities. The 25 year old has previously played for Wazito FC, Kisumu Palos FC, Western Stima and Kariobangi Sharks.
Having been signed by Gor Mahia in November 2020, his presence in the team has proved to be entirely valuable after first team keeper Boniface Oluoch's form went on a down spiral. Him coming to the club proved quite significant given that other high profile signings that came into the club are still yet to make a mark.
With his impressive skills, the K'Ogalo keeper still stays humble and reveals that Harambee Stars Veteran, Arnold Origi is his mentor while a perfect role model to his liking is Itumeleng Khune of Kaizer Chiefs.
